Costs & getting started

How much does a private English tutor cost in Finland?

Private 1-on-1 coaching with DPN English is from €50 per 50-minute session, including custom homework and progress tracking between lessons. The first 20-minute consultation is free. Premium private coaching costs more than a group class or an app — but it delivers far faster, goal-focused progress, with a native British tutor giving you their full attention.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes — completely free, 20 minutes, no commitment. We assess your level, discuss your goals, and recommend a plan. If it's a good fit, we book your first session. If not, no pressure at all.

How are lessons delivered?

One-to-one online via Microsoft Teams or WhatsApp — whichever you prefer. Sessions are 50 minutes, you book your own time, and you receive custom homework and vocabulary practice between lessons.

IELTS

How long does it take to prepare for IELTS?

Most clients need 4 to 8 weeks of focused preparation for a meaningful improvement. Some have hit their target in as little as one week of intensive coaching. We'll give you an honest timeline in the free consultation based on your starting level and target band.

What IELTS score can I realistically achieve?

The majority of our clients reach Band 7.0 or above. We've helped clients go from 5.5 to 7.5 and from 6.5 to 8.5. With consistent coaching and targeted feedback — especially on Writing Task 2 and Speaking, where most marks are lost — significant improvement is typical. See our success stories.

Interviews & professional English

How do I prepare for a job interview in English?

Prepare answers to the predictable questions, use the STAR method for "tell me about a time when…" questions, speak slowly and clearly instead of rushing, and do a mock interview with a native speaker first. We offer dedicated interview coaching — read our guide to English job interviews in Finland.

Can you help me go from B2 to C1?

Yes — and it's about refinement, not relearning. The B2→C1 jump is precision, natural phrasing, fluency under pressure, and register. Targeted feedback on the habits holding you back is what breaks the plateau. See our guide to reaching C1.

Do you offer corporate or team training?

Yes. We build tailored business English programmes for Finnish companies and teams — meetings, presentations, emails, and international communication. Learn more about corporate training.

Lessons & approach

Group class or 1-on-1 — which is right for me?

Group classes are social and good for hobby-level practice; 1-on-1 is far faster when you have a real goal, because you speak almost the whole session and the feedback is built entirely around you. Read our honest comparison.

I'm already advanced — is coaching still worth it?

Absolutely. Many clients are C1-level professionals who simply don't get enough opportunity to use English. Regular sessions keep your accuracy, vocabulary, and fluency sharp so you never lose the level you've worked for.

Where are you based?

Based in Finland, working with clients worldwide. Online coaching means location is never a barrier — clients across Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, and Kuopio work with me every week.
